February 2001

G&E has teamed up with creative producers Eliza Booth and Mary Hicks from Discovery Digital Networks (DDN) on the launch of their newest venture, Discovery Digital Radio. G&E Music composed the station theme along with two :10 and ten :5 pieces of original music and sound design for the project.

Composers Glenn Schloss and Erik Blicker combined elements of science and technology, african rhythms and sounds, with a musical theme to capture the essence of Discovery into ten and five second soundscapes. According to DDN, the music and sound design are crucial to convey the entertainment value of Discovery Digital Radio to the listener. Encompassing all that Discovery represents (exploration, science, nature, health, and adventure) presented a unique challenge.

Unlike most DDN projects, the radio spots did not have the support of visual graphics to grab the audience. Station Manager Will Johnson was enthusthiastic about G&E's ability to "translate the depth and power of the programming to the listener." Discovery Radio will be launched this summer, defining themselves as a forerunner of the digital radio revolution. As digital radio becomes the wave the future, G&E Music resolves to provide the soundtracks that bring it all to life.

G&E, founded by Glenn Schloss and Erik Blicker is a full service sound design and audio post production company providing licensed and original music to the film and television industry.
