New York, NY (March 25, 2005)--Luckily for Saatchi & Saatchi, and client Oil of Olay, G&E Music's Glenn Schloss and Erik Blicker have kept very in touch with the guitar-strumming singer/songwriters inside. It was G&E's unique brand of commercial scoring that stood out in a group of nearly 40 submissions for a recent spot to advertise Oil of Olay's Multiradiance cream. G&E's very winsome and dreamy acoustic guitar tune with sweetly subtle vocals won out, and Oil of Olay's glowing "Fireflies" spot is as captivating musically as visually. Working again with Saatchi producers Kelly Coveny and Lynn Apell, Schloss and Blicker not only followed the agency's direction on this one, they also produced music very uncharacteristically commercial. Coveny describes, "On this particular project, the direction was to compose an original acoustic guitar piece that would give the beautiful film we shot a mood and aura similar to the one Nick Drake's "Pink Moon" gave the Volkswagon spot several years back. G&E did this brilliantly and with a completely original sound that was more melody/song than commercial track. Like everything they do, it had a unique vibe. Never cookie-cutter or predictably commercial sounding, it added a warmth and magic to the spot that truly made it come alive." |

was excited to call on up-and-coming singer Ryan Hobler to lay
down the spot's humming melody. Hobler's beautiful vocal is powerful
even while keeping to the
minimalist arrangement the G&E guys were going for. "This was really
raw--one vocal track that we comp'd together," says Schloss. "It was
really gutsy of the agency to go with our song, because beauty product commercials
are usually so slicked out, and ours is very minimalist. But, because there aren't
so many layers and harmonies, the emotion and sweet 'life-is-beautiful' message
of the music is really communicated." G&E Music is a full-service music and audio post production house in New York City, equipped with a Pro Tools HD2 system to accommodate both recording and mixing sessions. A valued source of original music, sound design, and audio post for television and film, G&E works with ingenuity and efficiency to bring musical life to promotional campaigns. |
