New York, NY (December 20)-- Discovery Home Channel has taken do-it-yourself programming to the next level with its new weekly show "Toolbelt Diva," a home improvement program geared towards women that began its 12-episode run in August. Setting a sassy and exciting tone for the program is the show's opening disco theme, penned, recorded and mixed by Glenn Schloss and Erik Blicker of NYC's G&E Music. Working with the show's producer Liza Keckler and Discovery's Jesse Gordon and Sue Norton, Schloss and Blicker created a lively musical intro to the half-hour program, whose host's call-to-arms announces: "Ladies, helplessness is out. Power is in."

"There were several directions tossed around and eventually we all settled in on a 70's groove theme," says Schloss. "The visuals were pretty retro, so the music needed to reflect that aesthetic." Schloss and Blicker got their groove on, recording some funk guitar tracks through old Vibroverb guitar amps, a pulsing dance floor bass line and live percussion along with some E-Tribe programming recorded directly into Pro Tools HD.

G&E also brought in Kool and the Gang’s Backup vocalist Nikki Tillman to sing some hooks--"give the song some diva"--tracks that were perfectly placed in the mix for extra attitude. And, reflected in the song's sound design is the show's work site setting, with the sounds of saws, hammers and toolbelts clanking, added on to the tail end of the music. Keckler, with Seattle's Screaming Flea Productions, and the folks at Discovery were impressed with G&E's stylish track, a definite enhancement to the show's packaging.'
