G&E Music recently collaborated with History Channel line producer Michael Scalere to promote their new fall line up. Scalere secured licensing for sound alikes, and then hired G&E to add a charged up rock version for two :30 promos. The team recreated two classic rock tracks; Van Halen’s "Ice Cream Man", and Jim Carroll’s "People Who Died".

“After we took a look at the graphics, we felt like ice cream could be cranked up tempo wise. Once we brought it up, the video and graphics started to really take off.” Schloss says. “We also brought in a couple of different singers to add some background vocals on both tracks.”

On Jim Carroll’s “People Who Died”, G&E was directed to take a slightly different approach lyrically. Since the show was about unusual people and their eccentricities, the classic shout chorus was changed from “These are people who died!” to “All these people are weird, weird!”

“We had a blast putting the tracks together and revisiting the tunes. Michael gave us the freedom to put our own musical sauce on top, so that made this project even cooler.” comments Schloss.
