G&E MUSIC KEEPS THE HITS ALIVE

VH1's ONE HIT WONDER SERIES New York (August 2002)

Building on VH1's highest rated show of 2002, Top 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders, G&E Music followed up their initial assignment by cranking out music and sound design for VH-1's One Hit Wonders - the series. Hosted by pop culture icon William Shatner, the show highlights musical artists who gave us those unforgettable one-shot tunes and then vanished quickly into obscurity.

"We had some good ideas out of the gate, in terms of style and direction. Having the chance to compose a tune that was an outgrowth of the original theme was a rare experience. We had a lot of fun with it," says creative partner Erik Blicker. Following their previous success with VH-1 producer Hilary Spiegelman, G&E once again teamed up with her to compose the theme song, bumpers, underscore and credit bed for One Hit-the Series.

Creative Partner Glenn Schloss programmed beats with Reason, a Korg Electribe and Roland V-Drums as well as live percussion. A Roland xp-30 keyboard was brought into the mix for additional pads and synth lines. Enhancing the One Hit Wonder vibe, G&E sound designed the show open with quirky metallic pops and casino slot machine sound effects to complement the Austin Powers 'shagadelic' style graphics.

VH-1's One Hit Wonder Series premieres in August and airs several times a week.
